RESEACH INTERESTS

The research interests of our group are described elsewhere in this website. Generally I am interested in electronic structure applications as applied to various materials. Besides our active research projects in spintronic materials, chalcopyrites and high-pressure phase transitions, I have previoulsy worked extensively on wide-bandgap semiconductors, semiconductor interfaces, alloy modeling, and so on.  I am also strongly interested in computational methodology based on the LMTO approach and extensions beyond LDA such as statically screened exchange (SX), LDA+U, which we hope we will be able to merge to better treat correlated materials and magnetic semiconductor systems. We also continue to develop computational techniques for calculating optical properties. With Sergey Rashkeev we developed the calculation of second-order optical response functions. Currently we are developing magneto-optical calculations.

I am on sabbatical this spring, and here is my schedule. Some pictures will follow later.
